It marks the end of the Lenten season of fasting and penitence.

Why Do We Celebrate Easter?

It is a joyful celebration because it represents the fulfillment of the prophecies of the old testament and the revelation of God’s redemptive plan for us.

Christian tradition holds that through the death of Jesus all sins of humankind are paid off.

Therefore Easter is a symbol of hope and new beginnings.

Easter is also referred to as Resurrection Day or Resurrection Sunday.

It represents the victory of Christ over death and the promise of eternal life for his followers.
