What is Teacher Appreciation Week
You might wonder what is teacher appreciation week and why do we celebrate it?
Teacher Appreciation Week is a designated week to honor the hard work of teachers. Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated this year from Monday, May 2nd till Friday, May 6th.
Being a teacher is hard work, especially over the past couple of years. Since 1984, the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) appointed a special week to show gratitude to teachers and their passion to educate our children.
During this week children in the USA say thank you to their teachers with cards, crafts, and small gifts to show their appreciation.
Teacher Thank You Card Ideas
Making a small card with a handwritten appreciation note to your teacher doesn’t take a lot of effort but makes them feel valued and loved. Here are 5 adorable teacher card ideas for your thank you letter to your teacher:
1. Flower Pot Card
This first teacher thank you card idea is pretty easy to make and suitable for preschoolers.
You start off by printing our Flower Pot Templates. I recommend using our medium-sized printable. Let your toddler color, cut them out, and glue them on a nice thicker piece of paper.
Then you use finger colors and color your child’s hand and use them as a stamp to create flowers for your pot. After letting them dry, draw a stem for your flower and some leaves.
Then add our Teacher appreciation note: “Thank you for helping me grow!” and let your child sign it. You could even buy her some flowers as a gift with your card, it is totally up to you!
2. Ladybug Thank You Card
The next thank you card project is pretty simple as well. Download your medium ladybug template in the link above, color, and cut it.
For cards, I always recommend printing the templates on thicker paper. Then add our Teacher appreciation message: “Thank you for helping me spread my wings!” and let your child sign it. Super easy isn’t it?
3. Tea Pot Printable
I also love this adorable teapot idea. This also just needs to be printed, colored, and cut. As with the two other teacher thank you cards you should use the medium-sized printout.
After your card is done, add our Teacher appreciation saying: “You are a TEA-riffic Tea-cher!“. Attach a teabag to your card or buy a cup of tea with it.
What do you think? Isn’t it cute?
4. Heard Thank You Card
For this heart teacher appreciation card, you do not need any printables. Just follow the instruction in the link above and add the following thank you note to your teacher: “It takes a big heart to shape little minds.”

5. Sun Template Card
This sun template comes in three different sizes and can be used in many different ways. For our teacher appreciation card, we will use a small-sized sun.
Your children can color and cut it first. Then glue it on a plain card and write this adorable teacher thank you note on it: “Thank you for making my year so bright!“
